Everyone.405

A Collaborative Music Project

Everyone.405 is a collaborative music project and live recording experience that brings together vocalists and musicians to create and perform original compositions through a shared studio environment.

The project treats collaboration itself as a compositional process, where songs are developed in real time through collective interaction, interpretation, and performance.

Developed by producer and songwriter Lawrence Clinkscale, the project centers on collective artistic creation—inviting a diverse group of artists to interpret, expand, and reshape a catalog of original music through live ensemble collaboration. This phase will produce a 10-song album recorded live with a small invited audience, combining the intimacy of a studio session with the spontaneity and energy of collective performance.

Blending elements of soul, gospel, and jazz, with rhythmic influences from funk and house, the project explores a collective sound shaped through layered vocal arrangements and live musical interaction. Everyone.405 builds on an existing body of released and in-progress work, with early releases exploring multiple collaborative configurations—from multi-vocalist recordings to layered solo vocal arrangements—establishing the foundation of the project’s ensemble-driven, collective sound.

In addition to producing a high-quality album, Everyone. creates paid opportunities for independent artists and provides audiences with access to the creative process in real time, positioning the act of music-making itself as a shared, participatory experience. Rooted in contemporary Black musical and cultural expression, the project reflects a commitment to collaboration, cultural storytelling, and shared creative experience.

Selected Music

The following recordings represent the compositional foundation of the Everyone.405 project. Each track begins as a demo and is later developed through live, collaborative recording with vocalists and musicians.

These selections highlight the project’s focus on layered vocal arrangements, ensemble interaction, and the development of a collective sound. They serve as the starting point for the live recording process, where each composition is expanded through real-time collaboration.

Project Overview

  • 10 original compositions selected from a catalog of 21 demos, developed through collaborative interpretation

  • Live studio recording with a small invited audience (20–40 guests), integrating performance and process

  • Ensemble of 5–12 vocalists and 5–12 musicians contributing to a shared compositional approach

  • Multi-track audio recording and filmed live performances documenting real-time collaboration

  • Final outputs include a full-length album and visual documentation of the recording process

The project builds on an ongoing practice of live, collaborative music creation. The following documentation captures earlier sessions and performances that inform the development of the Everyone.405 recording process.

“Awkward Laugh” is the first released work from Everyone., available on all platforms, introducing the project’s foundation in collective sound, spontaneity, and experimentation.

This clip captures a studio recording session and the collaborative process between director, vocalists, producer, and engineer—reflecting how creation unfolds in real time. Rather than a fixed or isolated approach, the music develops through shared energy, interaction, and interpretation among the group.

Three additional tracks were released between 2022–2023 through a range of collaborative configurations, further establishing the foundation of the project’s evolving sound—defined as Sol Rock.

The Jazz in the Library series is a community-based live music initiative that brings together musicians and audiences in an intimate, accessible setting. The series focuses on collaborative performance, creating space for artists to interpret and develop music together while engaging directly with the community.

Ahmad DuBose-Dawson—also a member of Katalyst—serves as the Music Production Coordinator, supporting the musical direction by coordinating instrumentalists, and helping shape each performance.

Building on this ongoing collaboration, Ahmad will continue in the role of Music Production Director for the Everyone.405 project—creating a direct throughline between the Jazz in the Library series, the broader Katalyst musical network, and the development of Everyone. This continuity reinforces the project’s foundation in live, ensemble-based music creation and real-world collaborative practice.
